St. Fernando and the Oil Need a Miracle

They had a chance. A small one, but there was a chance that this rag tag group that we cheer for could make it to the playoffs. As long as everyone stayed healthy and we didn't have to dip into the AHL for our so called depth we would have a chance.

That took a big hit this evening when it was reported that Fernando Pisani is out indefinetly with ulcerative colitis. I don't know much about it, but aparently it can run the gamet from not a big deal to very serious. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulcerative_colitis

What does this mean for the Oil? Last year there was one player who was able to make any line he played on better. One player, who when Moreau went down was there playing some solid minutes and putting up some points. His name was Fernando. Suddenly we don't have the player to throw out there in even strength situations against Iginla, Sakic, Sedin and now Smyth. Who are we going to throw over the boards to counteract their offence? Sanderson? Thoresen? Brodziak? O'Marra? This team took a huge blow tonight and we can't expect players like that to be picking up the torch held high by Pisani.

Get well soon Fernando. We need you.

Hey Rob, this is cool. Now I can stay up on the Oilers from an insider/homer. You are the best.

this does not sound like it will be a good season for us....at least that is what your post seems to indicate.
